Rough Draft Craft

I won’t settle.

Because I know that there is a soul

Whose energy compliments mine

Whose radical empathy can’t be confined

Whose vibration is entwined

With a spirit divine

Who is graceful and poignant

(Depending on the wine)

A soul

whose laugh always rhymes with mine

whose heart beats with life in

such a familiar rhythm

And eventually I’ll see that

it’s because it beats in time

with mine.

So I won’t settle.

I’m looking for only you in a crowd.

I mean for god’s sake,

We see the world in the same way

Our ears hear the beautiful melodies that are being composed

bold and proud

from the ashes of houses we had to burn down.

Because my soul’s been on a journey

And is finally finding respite

So fuck it if I’m talking too loud

Because for the first time in my life

I don’t have to be quiet right now.

I have chosen me

In my quest to find you

and I know that when we do meet

after the pleasantries

we’ll exchange numbers.

Without a shadow of a doubt I know

that with you I will never have to go without

So I hope one day that you text me

to tell me to look at the sky

because I was the reflection that you saw in the rays of the sun

and the hues

that they cast on the clouds.
